A high net worth individual who is eighteen years of age or older and who satisfies certain requirements may apply to the Chief Immigration Officer for the right to reside in the Cayman Islands as a person of independent means. These requirements include investment in developed Cayman Property in the sum of CI$250,000 (US$304,878) and further investment in the Cayman of CI$500,000 (US$609,756), which could be investment in shares in a local business, or investment in undeveloped or developed Cayman Real Estate; sufficient annual income, net worth, a police clearance certificate, medical, health insurance and satisfactory references.
The applicant can then be granted a Residency Certificate for Persons of Independent Means. The Certificate, which is valid for twenty-five years and is renewable thereafter at the discretion of the Chief Immigration Officer, entitles the person to reside in the Cayman Islands without the right to work. The resident can however invest in and be a shareholder and director of a local business.
The spouse and any dependent children of a holder of a Residency Certificate for Persons of Independent Means that were listed in the application and approved by the Chief Immigration Officer will be granted a Residency Holders (Dependant's) Certificate entitling them to reside in the Cayman Islands without the right to work. International Realty Group's sister company International Relocation Consultants can assist investors with their applications for permanent residence, ensuring the application is submitted and processed in the most appropriate, timely and effective manner possible.
