Cayman Islands education prides its self on high standards for a diverse population with many international influences.

In this section we describe in detail the educational system in the Cayman Islands. We list all the private schools in Grand Cayman from kindergarten, pre-school and primary, through middle and high school, to colleges, tertiary and continued education. We list all the important details including their annual fees, class sizes, facilities and curriculum. For children who have special needs we let you know who to contact, and which schools in the Cayman Islands have special needs teachers on staff.

It is required by law that each school must see a copy of your immigration paperwork, which states that your child is a dependant on your work permit, and all students are required to have health screenings. The Public Health Department offers free screenings, but parents must bring the child's immunization record along. Alternatively, health screenings can be done by private doctors, who will issue a school health screening record. Once the department has received the record, a health screening certificate will be issued and this can be taken to the school the child is entering. In addition, the school will probably want to test your child for placement. The papers for this can be sent to you before you get to the Island. Many schools on Grand Cayman have long waiting lists, especially for the lower grades. It is essential that you apply to a school at the earliest possible moment. Please note that just because your child is on a waiting list at a school does not guarantee enrolment. We highly recommend that you put your child on several schools' waiting lists. Some schools offer a sibling discount (make sure to ask). Please note that the school fees quoted here are for the 2007/08 calendar year and are subject to change.
